Conceptual project
Project Overview
Mahone is online real-estate marketplace based in Serbia. Platform is primarily designed for providing information on real estate and homes for rent. It is designed for individuals involved in renting or selling real estate. After extensive research and wireframing I created designs which will help users find homes fast and easy.
Challenges
Even though the competition is fierce, we can easily break through by exploiting their collective weaknesses. Process would require us to create great experience for all users designing complex search filter methods as well as complex information listing page.
Process
Research
Research helped me gain a deeper understanding of user needs and problems, clarifying who our target audience is, as well as gaining deeper knowledge of the overall market. During the research phase, I employed various methods, including competitive analysis and quantitative research.
Thorough competitive analysis, I conducted emphasizing user interfaces, features, and overall experiences. Beyond surface comparisons, my specific focus was to understand how competitors organized complex data, particularly on the filter and listing pages, and facilitated user flow. This insight played an important role in shaping design decisions for the mobile app.
These specific personas represent individuals seeking a suburban lifestyle and families in search of a safe long-term home. By addressing their need for larger homes and providing information about community services, Mahone can attract users looking for a relaxed living environment, as well as those seeking vibrant, bustling areas.
Wireframes & Early concepts
After understanding the user's needs and problems, I began to ideate and create different concepts, with the main focus on designing a filter search and listing page.
Given that the user's goal is to rent an apartment or save it for later, I decided to create a flow that is as simple as possible, allowing users to access homes with just a few clicks.
Search results page with an interactive map will assist users in searching for homes while keeping the home's location in mind during the browsing process.
A Price Chart will provide users with insights into price changes in a certain part of the city, helping them make informed decisions about the housing market.
Advanced filter system will aid the user in sorting apartments based on their specific and stringent criteria. Filters that are often used in home search are highlighted in filter menu while other filters are grouped in filter section.
Designing visuals and iterations
Guided by feedback from my mentor, I iteratively refined my designs, enhancing usability and effectiveness. This collaborative process honed my skills and improved the quality of my solutions

Final thoughts and learnings
This project provided a valuable opportunity for me to gain experience in designing web applications of this caliber. Collaborating with a developer to implement the designed interfaces into reality was particularly rewarding. Overall, I acquired valuable insights into designing complex web applications and developed a comfort level with collaborating effectively with developers.
